End of Life Paperwork

When polled nearly 90% of people stated they wanted to fill out end-of-life paperwork and yet less than 30% have. Meaning even those of us in health care who know better do not have all of our paperwork filled out!

While planning ahead does not release us from the deep emotions that belong to these times being prepared takes away a lot of the tasks of chasing paperwork, notary, hidden passwords, and scrambling to make healthcare decisions without preparation. 

Expecting to figure out what to do in the chaos of an emergency is unfair to all.
As a Hospice nurse I could always tell which families had the talk. They were the ones that had a solid thread of quiet, woven into the immense grief they were experiencing.

If you live elsewhere the legal paperwork might have different names but every state has state specific EOL (end-of-life) legal documents. While the paperwork may be different the questions and conversations are usually the same.
